Cafe Bar Guadalest - Bar en Guadalest

Introduction:

When you arrive to Guadalest, the first place you will find is this ancient house that used to be a small inn where travellers normally stayed when they were travelling from Callosa d’En Sarrià to Alcoy by stagecoach. This house is well known by the eldest inhabitants of Guadalest as “La Venta”. However, today the bar is called Café Bar Guadalest since this name was painted in the main facade in the 60’s.

Description:

This bar in Guadalest, Café Bar Guadalest, is still maintaining the traditional features of those ancient houses of the town with high ceilings held on wooden beams and masonry walls. However, it is clear that the house has been remodelled according to the necessities of each time. In its walls you will find the best pictures of Guadalest, which were taken at the beginning of the 20th century.

This bar in Guadalest, Café Bar Guadalest, is the oldest bar in town and this is the place where the inhabitants meet up to eat some tapas, chat, and of course, to play dominoes, chess, mus, cau, among other games.

Food Style:

Café Bar Guadalest offers a great variety of sandwiches, combination plates, as well as some fast food due to the limited time of some visitors.

Moreover, for those who are provided with some more time, Café Bar Guadalest also offers fantastic tapas, and most of them are traditional food from Guadalest.

We highly recommend that you taste the grilled cuttlefish, which is known as ‘the best of the town and surroundings’, since it is still prepared as Granny Amparo used to do. We also recommend the grilled pork loin dressed with traditional picadillo (chopped garlic and parsley).

Depending on the season, Café Bar Guadalest may offer different seasonal products, like wild mushrooms from our mountains in October and November or mintxos in December and January.

However, the speciality of the house are the so-called ‘pinchos’, which are served on Sunday evening. Every Sunday in this bar of Guadalest, from 7:30 pm. on, you will find more than 50 different kinds of delicious pinchos; some of them with a traditional touch, while others are more innovative. And the most important thing are their amazing prices!
